Motherway’s New Single, “Snow Witches”, Conjures Vivid Dream Pop

Single release artwork for "Snow Witches" by Motherway

Following a prolific year of tri-state gigs and an EP release, New Jersey-based Motherway ushers in a new era for the indie rockers with their upcoming single, “Snow Witches”, out February 21 via Breadhouse Records. The band’s lead singer and guitarist Brandon Motherway conceived the song over two years before the band’s first show. It’s their first recording in RMC Studios with production by EJ Gaub of Inspiration Audio in Rahway, NJ. It is also their first single to be mastered by Mazzy Star collaborator Christopher Colbert.

Lyrically, “Snow Witches” is set in the calm before the storm, December 2019. Brandon pulls imagistic and quotable memories from a day trip in New York City, spiraling upwards with the onslaught of snow. The result is a sound odyssey dedicated to the grandeurs of dreaming big. Where there is pressure, there soon follows bliss. Yet, the band persists with a mid-tempo stroll that soaks in the journey toward a divine destination.

The single art marks an evolution in Motherway’s discography. Growing from a solo start-up to a full-band venture, this artwork is the first to show the full band together, accentuated by an update of the project’s moth-man logo by original designer Emily Bartley. Listen to “Snow Witches”, available on major streaming platforms, on Wednesday, February 21st.
