Chicago-based recording artist Lil Zib is experimenting with a new sound in 2021. Breaking away from his usual hard-hitting/energetic type tracks (see Shoulda Known and BACK UP) Rapper/Singer and songwriter Zach Trybula has enhanced his songwriting skills and style since he began his musical career in 2015.
Shifting from a more heavy or raw form of rap from his earlier years, Lil Zib really began testing his versatility with his hit 2019 song “CALLIN”. Throughout this song, you are taken through a depressing journey of a toxic relationship/break-up, supported by a powerful and emotional chorus from a local feature and three heartbreaking verses from Lil Zib. This was a huge milestone in Lil Zib’s career, not only did the song reach 27,000 streams and counting, it was the first song that you can actually feel the emotion, the sadness, the heartbreak throughout the whole performance. This type of rawness and emotion was inspiring to him, it pushed him to make more songs, less focused on the usual hard-hitting music he created, and more focused on emotion into 2020 (see WINE).
Now he’s returning to release another single, “BEAUTIFUL” on “BEAUTIFUL” Lil Zib reflects on his first time ever falling in love, and the emotion surrounding it.
“BEAUTIFUL” is about falling in love for the first time, it’s a way for people to experience the feeling of unconditional love whether they’ve experienced it or not. The euphoric and uplifting instrumental is well supported by Lil Zib’s powerful chorus and down-to-earth verses, it’s almost as if he’s speaking directly to the listener.
“BEAUTIFUL’ Is my favorite song I’ve ever done, I’ve never had the inspiration to write anything like it because I’ve never been in love until that point in my life. It’s beautiful in itself because first of all I wrote the song sober, but when I was writing and recording the song I almost felt “high” from the emotional state I was in at the time. The song truly captures how I was feeling to its rawest form and I’m thankful to have experienced anything like that in my life.“
The heart-warming single “BEAUTIFUL” by Lil Zib is out on February 12th, just in time for Valentine’s day.
