Internationally acclaimed multi-award winning singer-songwriter AMARU releases his brand new single “Traces Of My Melanin” on 19 June 2023! This is the lead single from his sophomore album with the same title, set to be released in July 2023.
The song is a love letter to the Black community and the many contributions that Black people have made to society. Lyrically the Grammy voter reflects on the past, tackles the present and looks ahead to a bright future, not just for his people, but for all of mankind.
In the music video for this song AMARU wanted to make sure that the visuals perfectly matched the lyrical content. In addition to that, the singer also highlights notable “traces of his melanin” in the video, such as Desmond Tutu and Martin Luther King.
The Grammy balloted singer intended for the video to stand as an educational piece to generations ahead of atrocious acts perpetrated on man in an effort to help to prevent history from repeating itself.
