The World of Mick

Thank you for taking the time to have this interview with IMAAI.
Tell us about your music.
Singer-songwriter-producer The World of Mick released his first blues-pop solo album MICK I in 2019, followed by his second album MICK II in autumn 2022.
Taught guitar from 5 by his father, Mick became a sought after session musician in London and travelling round the world on his various music projects.
Latterly focussing on his writing and production work. The World of Mick has enjoyed multi million streams on his first two solo albums.

When did you start performing?
Before his solo project The World of Mick, he worked as a London based and then international session musician.
New York, Singapore, Amsterdam and Karachi are just some of the bases that Mick worked from in his illustrious career.
During that time, Mick was gathering his observations and developing as a songwriter and solo artist.

What do you consider to be your hometown and how does that affect your music?
Mick is based in the vibrant town of Brighton on the south coast of the UK.
Brighton has one of the UK’s biggest student populations and Mick runs his own studio and production company, Harmonia, there.
As well as his solo project, Mick and his Harmonia team produce other artists and write music for film and TV.

What performers have been your inspiration?
The Beatles-for the variety of their songwriting and songs that have stood the test of time.
Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac-astonishing band for developing blues.
John Mayer for carrying the torch and neat songwriting style.
Prince-for his amazing live performances as well as his studio genius.

Chuck Berry, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan for their beautiful poetry.

What do you base your success on?
Enjoying life, moment by moment is my success.
Memories are made from these moments.
And they are real.

What was your latest musical release?
MICK II-Universal Traveller is the second album by the World of Mick.
The album carries on the style of pop songs with blues sensibilities in the songs that Mick calls blues-pop.
Written during the Covid era, the songs in MICK II touch upon more contemporary themes rather than the more aspects of love that MICK I gravitates towards.

Do you have any news to share?
Watch out for The World of Mick appearing at festivals in the remainder of 2023. He has already played three in the UK.
