Pop-rock four-piece The Higher are back on the scene with their comeback single “Free Ride” premiering exclusively through rock publication New Noise Magazine. Their first release since their 2009 Epitaph Records studio release It’s Only Natural, “Free Ride” is a complex track speaking about disingenuous intentions in love and breaking out of its strong hold. The Higher perfectly blends such emotional lyrics with familiar power-chord punk guitar riffs and an undeniably catchy melodyline. “Free Ride” is just a glimpse of what is yet to come from the band’s forthcoming EP Elvis In Wonderland slated for release on October 14 via Secret Friends Music Group.
Alongside the new single comes a complementary and equally as playful visual directed and edited by Alex Bemis. Helping set the theme for their upcoming EP, the latest music video follows our titular character Elvis around the euphoria that is The Higher’s hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada.
“We really wanted to capture our favorite Vegas haunts, and have it vibe with the theme of the EP. Elvis hitching rides on motorcycles, cruising around downtown, having an impromptu karaoke performance is a night we’ve all had in the wonderland that is Vegas.” – Seth Trotter, lead vocalist of The Higher
Coupled with the Elvis in Wonderland EP announcement, The Higher is also celebrating their 15th anniversary of famed sophomore album On Fire with first-time only double-LP vinyl pressings via Take This To Heart Records. Limited to 1000 copies in total, the On Fire vinyl record will be available on two different variants – a vivid neon pink and a tri-color swirl of pink, black and blue. Pre-order this exclusive vinyl here, alongside the band’s new vinyl pre-order for Elvis in Wonderland.
The Higher rode the wave of pop-rock stardom in the early 2000’s after sharing the stage with emo greats including Panic! At The Disco, Taking Back Sunday, Motion City Soundtrack, Silverstein, and more. Their unique brand of rock fused with a hint of groove landed their fan-favorite On Fire LP a #9 spot on the Billboard Heatseekers Charts, on heavy rotation on multiple MTV channels, and on the radar of top tastemakers including SPIN, Kerrang!, Fuse, and more. Now the Epitaph Records alumni are taking everything they know from the major stages of their early days to shine brighter than ever for their 2022 comeback. They are poised to share their first release since 2009, the Elvis In Wonderland EP coming out on October 14, 2022 via Secret Friends Music Group. The new tracks encompass their rejuvenated sound and fresh era fusing elements of dance pop, emo, and R&B with a pop-punk edge. With Seth Trotter on vocals, Reggie Ragan on guitar and vocals, and George Lind rounding out the lineup on drums, The Higher is prepared to soar once again. Vinyl and pre-order bundles are available at thehighermusic.com.
