The talented musician from Philadelphia is set to release his powerful debut album, a move which will excite his fans across the world.
Rodney Talley is preparing to release his debut album on April 26, 2011, creating a new chapter in the ministry of the multi-talented singer-songwriter. Rodney, who lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has just put the final touches to the album, and is now preparing for the imminent release that has been created to cross boundaries, however conveying one message, “That Jesus is Lord.”
The album, ‘Revelation’, consists of eleven original songs and a reprise from Rodney, each providing a soul soothing dose of melodious vocals and heartfelt lyrics. Although gospel, the music is punctuated throughout with elements of jazz, pop and R&B.
The bulk of the album was recorded at Big Herb’s Music Studio in Delaware, produced by Herb Middleton, who has produced for Faith Evans, Mary J Blige, Usher, Nas and many others. Additional production was done by newcomers P3Music (Clinton Jackson, Matthew Sampson & Anthony Forrest) and the team of David Downing & Tommy Scorch.
‘Revelation’ reveals the stunning array of influences that have found their way into Rodney’s music. While his grounding came in traditional gospel music – he gained recognition while singing in venues throughout the U.S., continuously bringing a more neo soul and jazz vibe to a traditional sound.
Rodney’s life has certainly been full of experiences, good and bad, but necessary in order to have an authentic testimony. He appeared on Bobby Jones, and was invited back for a second appearance, by Bobby Jones HIMSELF!. Rodney’s ministry is beginning to expand, as his life reflects that which he sings about. Without a doubt, we believe that doors will continually open, as this “Revelation” comes to pass.
Rodney has said of his work: “I was brought up in the church, and always had a special interest in singing. At eleven, it was discovered by my family, that I had a gift. I sang in several R&B groups, but that was not the path the Lord had for me.
“Since then, I’ve listened to and studied many genres of music. The ‘Revelation’ album is a reflection of my influences over the years and just a testimony of my journey.”
Many of his influences spread from different backgrounds of music from across the globe, which includes the Legendary Karen Clark-Sheard, Donnie McClurkin, Stevie Wonder, and John Legend.
