PRODUCER IN RECOVERY SET TO RELEASE HIS FIRST OFFICIAL SINGLE, AND IT’S ABOUT THE PANDEMIC

Frederick, MD, May 21st, 2021 — Daryl Campbell, a Peabody Conservatory Cellist-turned- Funk producer, has decided to use his time inside to produce his first official single, called ‘My Shows’. It’s about the current state of affairs, no less. “I wanted to do something funny, I like to throw humor in my music… now seemed a good of a time as any.” What better way than to do something meta? In this case, a song done by someone in quarantine… about being in quarantine (passing the time by checking out Netflix and what not). The release is set for June 11th. This will include an official music video on YouTube, as well as steaming on all major sites; Spotify, SoundCloud, Apple Music, and so on. Daryl, who goes by the stage name ‘Daryltron’, is certainly no stranger to finding some much-needed light in a dark situation. After a ten year bout with alcohol addiction, he got clean and decided to dedicate himself to establishing his label. He founded Sentari Records LLC, and ‘got serious’ about his craft, releasing his current LP (Jukebox). Like this album, ‘My Shows’ is an intricate production. It weaves in fat basslines, synth riffs, electric pianos, and smooth vocals, creating a sound that is described as ‘modern Funk’. I’d say it has elements of 70’s and 80’s music, all sort of blended together. The Frederick News Post even described one of his tracks, saying ‘an insanely brilliant bassline dominates, synth is interlaced and the vocals are contagious as a low
register baritone harmony gives off reminders of Barry White and other sultry voices’. Daryl sings and plays all of the instruments in his songs. “Once the pandemic hit, it was an opportunity to stay home and work on my tracks full-time… and seeing as how my music is very big on humor, it just came together very naturally. It was very organic, that I would present the current situation in a way that was ironic.” He pokes fun at the boredom of being inside, and stays true to his “love song roots,” keeping a narrative about wanting to see his love interest. He can’t this time however, because of social distancing. “I incorporate my use of contrast in this song too, just in a different way. Like, it’s common I put an otherwise dark subject to a bouncy funk beat. So, it’s a pretty familiar theme with a current twist.” Indeed, somewhere below the catchy Pop-Funk groove lurks an uneasy feeling, capturing the current zeitgeist. It’s a song that’s both fun, yet brilliantly relevant.
Sentari Records LLC is Daryl’s independent label, which he founded in 2019.
