OPENLY GAY CHRISTIAN SINGER “POPS” IT UP WITH NEW CD RELEASE
GLBT Hall-of-Famer and RightOutTV Video and Music Awards recipient, Shawn Thomas, releases his 2014 studio-pop production of 14 Contemporary Christian style tracks. Thomas describes the album, “In Between the Shades of Gray,” as a departure from the praise and worship template of his previous number one CD, “Voice of Worship:”
“There really wasn’t a plan or pre-established theme for this CD. Each song was written and recorded independently from the others, and, as a result, there’s a pretty wide scope of styles; whereas for the most part, my previous projects were kind of planned out ahead of time. I think it’s pretty different from anything I’ve done before, both in production and writing. It’s not that anyone’s going to hear this music and think, ‘Wow, that’s doesn’t sound anything like Shawn Thomas,’ but I do think they’ll hear something new.”
The release of “In Between the Shades of Gray” marks Thomas’ eleventh year as a full-time touring artist as an openly gay Christian singer/songwriter, and also his eleventh solo CD/album since 2003. His recordings have received critical recognition awards and nominations from OutMusic, The Stonewall Society Pride in the Arts, RightOutTV, and QNation.
