Musicians On Three Continents Create A Jazz Album During Height of COVID-19 PANDEMIC

“Bolera Jazz Affair” is an online collaboration and was recorded with none of the musicians actually seeing each other. The album is a blend of gypsy jazz, bossa nova, and standard love songs spiked with a punk-rock attitude. It features accidental guitar hero Miguel Juarez, staple session drummer in the Georgia music scene, Martell Hughes, saxophone maestro Paulo Siqueira from Brazil, famed up and coming Filipino bassist Bergan Nuñez of Project Yazz, and the very talented young singer Emily Stilwell. It was recorded during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic and is a testament to the will and creativity of people during the most challenging times.

Miguel Juarez is an Asian-American guitarist and songwriter in Columbus, Ga, and is the mastermind behind the whole experiment. He was born in Los Angeles, grew up in The Philippines, served in the US Army, traveled the world as a Tagalog translator, and is now a full-time musician and business owner of Miguel Juarez Music, LLC. He met each of the musicians during his different tenures with his bands and as a session musician.
