Los Angeles, CA, February 14, 2022 – The groovy music of the 1960s comes alive again in Lysergic Astrologies, the soundtrack to the newly released award-winning sci-fi rock & roll rom-com “The Second Age of Aquarius.”
Film Synopsis: When Alberta magically brings her favorite departed rock & roll poet back to life, he’s everything she dreamed…at first. Turns out Russell Aquarius thinks he’s having the ultimate bad trip and he wants to bring Alberta along for the magic carpet ride!
Lysergic Astrologies is an anthology of hit songs the fictional rock star had back in the hippie era, covering his earliest work, the Kinks-like “Furry Freak” to the Sgt. Pepper-inspired “Scorpio’s Mantra.” There’s even a ‘new’ ballad that Russell wrote after he came back to life—“Alberta” brings to mind a lighters-in-the-air rock anthem of yore.
The songs are written by multi-instrumentalist Darren Gordon Smith, who also co-wrote and composed the music for the film “Repo! The Genetic Opera” —one of the top 25 cult films of all time, according to Rolling Stone. For authenticity, Lysergic Astrologies was recorded using mostly vintage gear by Zach Kasik and Wild Feather Studios, Nashville, TN. Lead vocals are by Michael Ursu (Wildness), who also plays Russell Aquarius in the film, Nancy Long (Repo) sings backing vocals, and Shake E. Fowlkes (Too Slim & the Taildraggers) plays drums. The album is produced by Darren Smith and Nancy Long.

Reviewers of The Second Age of Aquarius film have referred to the music as “authentic to the era,” and “a helluva lot of fun to listen to.” Smith’s songs been described by critics as “well-conceived bursts of violence, humor and pathos,” “unique and memorable,” and “certified bangers.”
