Christine Bauer

Thank you for taking the time to have this interview with IMAAI.
Tell us about your music.
My music style is mostly country, but has a lot of different influences and variety mixed in with it. I grew up listening to many genres and my love for variety in music grows even more each day. I also credit my producer, Paul Ray, with helping me achieve a unique sound in the country music world. My upcoming release, “Crumble” has more of a rock vibe to it whereas “Keeping The Date” definitely fits more of the country pop genre and “Human Race” was a bit more indie or alternative country. I love hearing older style music (60s, 70s) coming back into modern music recently, it has been refreshing!

When did you start performing?
I taught myself how to play guitar around the time I turned 16 or 17, but my passion for music and love for singing started much younger. I wrote my first song on guitar within a couple months of learning and performed it at my high school talent show. From there, I started playing local gigs (benefit concerts, coffee shops) and started sharing my music online. Everything really changed for me though when I met Paul Ray online, he lives in Australia and has produced much of my music. I will never forget the first email he sent me, it changed my life forever. I also have another amazing friend, Sarah Harralson, in Nashville who I write with regularly and love to travel with. I’m hoping someday we can both travel to Australia and catch up with Paul!

What do you consider to be your hometown and how does that affect your music?
My hometown is smaller and influenced by a variety of musical genres but with a bit more of an Indie influence, so I would say that definitely impacted by musical style growing up.

What performers have been your inspiration?
I’m most inspired by Caitlyn Smith, Carly Pearce, Kip Moore, Jake Owen, Logan Mize, Vance Joy, Randy Houser, Brett Eldrege, Eric Paslay, Wrabel, Seafret, Cody Johnson, Lainey Wilson, Lucie Silvas and Madi Diaz. I could probably go on, but I’ll stop there. For me, it’s all about one thing, emotion. Each of these artists sings and performs with an emotion that can truly be felt not just heard. That’s the kind of artist and performer I strive to be, and I think I may have finally done that with “Crumble”.

What do you base your success on?
I paused for this one…I’m not sure I’ve met the level of success I hope for quite yet, but I’m getting there, and I know very well that at the end of the day, it’s not about the level of success you achieve but all the moments in between. There is growth, support, faith, happiness, sadness, all of it. All of it in between is what I’ll base my success on, now and in the future.

What was your latest musical release?
My new single, “Crumble” comes out July 28th. Without saying too much, this song is very raw for me, it is an emotion I’m still working through and think quite a few listeners will relate to as well. I hope it reaches those who need to hear it.
