Ryan Burns Brings Jazz Delights With New Music
Despite the stay at home orders to keep things safe, Ryan Burns is finding ways to create wonderful jazz music. He dropped his first single, “Boogaloo Bird” in May 2020 and will soon follow that up with “Bacon and Eggs” come June.
“Boogaloo Bird” was recorded in the various basements of Ryan Burns, Cole Shuster (guitar), and Max Holmberg (drums). Together they were able to create a lively jazz record that puts Burns’ Hammond organ center stage. Released in May, “Boogaloo Bird” is the first of what Ryan Burns hopes is many this year. “Bacon and Eggs” will be available on Bandcamp June 5, 2020, alongside a video that will be premiering on YouTube. Like with his first, he worked with talented musicians from afar including bassist Geoff Harper and tenor saxophonist Steve Treseler.
Ryan Burns plans to make the most out of his time at home right now. With over 30 years in the jazz and rock realm performing with everyone from Jimmy Page to Bobby Watson, half a dozen CDs as leader, and a dozen or so as a sideman to his name – he has built quite the reputation for himself and his music. With that, it wasn’t hard for him to garner a list of musicians in jazz and rock to record for what he’s calling his quarantine project. A project that has him releasing a new song every first Friday of the month soon.
