Tracey Coryell Dedicates Latest Album To Late Husband
To continue on to another day after losing the love of your life, your partner, your creative muse is never easy but the strongest make it through like Tracey Coryell. With her and her late husband both being avid musicians, she paid homage to him the best way she could; dedicating her 2019 release, ‘Ravel,’ to him.
‘Ravel’ is packed with 10 songs, each one with a piece of her heart laced in between the lines, holding each note and melody together. From the captivating lyrics of “What If I” to the melodic hues throughout songs like “Beautiful Mess;” each track is a masterclass in musicianship. Which would’ve made her husband, Larry Coryell, proud during his time on earth, he wasn’t just a musician, but rather a renowned jazz guitarist who was often referred to as the “Godfather of Fusion.”
Songwriting has always been therapeutic for Tracey Coryell. In the last 30 years, she’s been a working singer-songwriter, she’s penned not only two “Best Love Song” awards from the Songwriter’s Showcase of America but has also worked alongside Grammy-winning producers, and performed with the likes of Jefferson Airplane’s Jorma Kaukonen, and the legend Les Paul. As well as Larry Coryell.
She and Larry spent a decade married, but their bond will continue to live on forever through not only the music they made together, but the music Tracey continues to create in his honor, ‘Ravel’ included.
