The latest offering from Ukraine-born Delena is a dance floor anthem
With the latest release, alt-pop newcomer Delena gives us a dance floor anthem with a message – one of frustration, determination, and ultimately empowerment.
Taking cues from artists such as Dua Lipa and Daft Punk, this song has already had high praise from the likes of Popjustice and Clash magazine, and it’s easy to see why. Dreamy synths kick off the song, led by Delena’s powerful vocal.
A persistent snare makes an appearance to drive the song into the chorus, which is a stripped-back, bassline-driven dance floor jam (which can easily be translated into a bedroom floor jam, given the circumstances).
Delena’s past successes have been characterised by outspoken, feisty feminine attitude, and this track is no different – in admitting that she needs help, Delena ends up saving herself. It’s an interesting message to put out in a dance-pop song, but a welcome one in today’s climate.
