New Song Says Good Riddance to 2020

Catlea’s “2020 In My Rearview” Calls for Unity & Love

CINCINNATI, OHIO — January 25th, 2021 — Forever associated with COVID-19, partisan politics, racial inequality, and economic ruin, 2020 was one of the worst years in recent history. People the world over couldn’t wait to kick 2020 to the curb. Singer-songwriter, Catlea, captures this sentiment with her powerful new single, “2020 In My Rearview.” The song will be available for purchase and streaming on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 through Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Soundcloud, Tidal, Deezer, and 50+ streaming services worldwide.

The rocking party anthem of a song encourages us to put this dumpster fire of a year behind us in a celebration of love and unity. As Catlea sings in the song’s catchy refrain, “Let’s celebrate one love, one world, one you, one me.” The song is inspired by tragic world events, and a sense of hope and optimism that better days are ahead. “After one very long, difficult, disastrous year, my hope is that we can unite and grow from what we just went through—after celebrating the end of 2020 a bit first, of course.”

The heartache and loss experienced in 2020 are buoyed by the promise of people around the globe coming together. “This song is a message of celebration to contrast the call for action in my last song, ‘Broken Down.’” said Catlea. “Let’s be thankful it’s over and move forward the only way we know how: together.” She invites us to party all night and dance until the daylight while remembering that love is the highest calling of all.

“2020 In My Rearview” was a collaborative effort among national talent. The song was produced by L.A.-based, certified-platinum music producer, Dibs known for working with Melanie Martinez, Carly Rae Jepson, and Lovely the Band. Drums were performed by world-class drummer and percussionist, Wallfredo Reyes, Jr. touring drummer with Chicago, who also plays with Santana, Steve Winwood, and Jackson Browne. And Cincinnati-area musician, Richie Terbush, guitarist with popular local band 3-Piece Revival (formerly of the Rusty Griswolds), played electric and acoustic guitar on the track. “2020 In My Rearview” was recorded at Gwynne Sound in Cincinnati, OH with the assistance of musician and sound engineer, Deweybear. It was inspired by music from PVRIS and Guster.

The song is Catlea’s eighth global single. In just over 18 months, the Cincinnati-based musician has gained 140,000 followers on social media and streaming services. Her songs have been streamed over 2.6 million times, and her YouTube lyric videos have more than 245,000 views.
