Northampton’s rising star Maddox Jones shares another taste of his highly anticipated second album with the new single “One Minute”, out August 29th via Radikal Records.
Produced and co-written with UK songwriter, Angus Parkin, “One Minute” sees Maddox pulling from his indie rock roots. Driven by a heavy bass guitar groove and expanding into an anthemic sing-along hook, “One Minute” serves as a reminder to live life in the moment, with a nostalgic story of looking back at old photos and wishing to relive those blissfully romantic moments of the past.
“One Minute” came together completely by accident. It was written with Angus Parkin in a day and my label, Radikal Records, loved the demo so much that we are releasing that version. It was inspired by looking at an old photograph and wanting to be back in that moment again and imagining having one minute in that moment again. We all take things for granted so this is a reminder to get the most out of life’s beautiful moments.” – Maddox Jones
The new release follows-up Maddox’s hit, “England Together”, released in support of England’s Euros 2024 campaign and raising money for mental health charity Head in the Game. Serving as a celebratory echo of the team and sparking a national call for unity within the sport, the track brought Maddox into the spotlight with appearances on national TV on Sky Sports, ITV News and multiple BBC Radio interviews across the country.
Amidst a whirlwind of accolades over the past year, including the title of Songwriter of the Year at the Northamptonshire Local Music Awards, Maddox has been co-writing and collaborating with artists such as Billy Locket, Janet Devlin and Great Adamz, along with finishing up his sophomore album. Promising to be his most raw, urgent work to date, the new album is slated for release later this year.
Maddox recently announced that he’ll be opening a large portion of Will Young’s comeback tour across the UK, where he’ll be sharing new songs off his upcoming album. Before hitting the road in October with Young, Maddox will be supporting Mae Stephens on the Main Stage at Northampton Music Festival on September 8th, and supporting Kenny Thomas at the Roadmender in Northampton on September 20th.
Maddox enjoyed early success with The Departure, securing four Top 40 hits, sharing the stage with iconic bands such as The Killers and Placebo, and playing prestigious festivals like Reading & Leeds and Glastonbury. Maddox has a track record of electrifying performances alongside notable acts like Thomas Heaton, Beaux, The Lottery Winners and Lemar.
Having burst onto the scene as a solo artist in 2020 with the critically acclaimed EP, ‘Headspace’, the EP reached #4 in the iTunes Singer-Songwriter chart. The follow-up 2021 single, ‘Can’t Wait for the Summer’ followed suit, hitting the top spot on the same chart. Tipped as One to Watch by BBC Introducing Northampton, Maddox has garnered further acclaim across the industry, earning a spot at #5 on Music Week’s Commercial Pop and Upfront Club Chart with ‘Make Me Yours’ off his debut album ‘Believe It’.
Maddox Jones’ highly anticipated second album featuring “One Minute” is set for release this fall on Radikal Records. More information and pre-order information coming soon.
