Fresh off the release of their second single, D.W.D.Y, comes their 3rd single In My Feelz. With D.W.D.Y., EMPERATRIX shared the story of personal triumph to break free from a painful relationship. A tale of being with someone you love, who makes the choice of drugs over you, in order to tolerate the pains of living. In My Feelz is written, sung and composed by the female rock duo. A story of exploring the world with a new found freedom, rediscovering that feeling of love but realizing love is not always as easy as fairytales make it out to be. The complexities of the world catch you in moments when you realize no matter what you do, you can’t help how you feel about someone, even though you may not be able to pursue them. Whether it is because they are dating someone, you are dating someone, they are not ready to date, etc. you can’t control how you feel when you are around this person, only how you will act. You are caught in these feelings wishing you could break them free and express how you truly feel. As if under a spell, an enchantment, the person you are falling for unintentionally draws you in closer while still seeming so far away and unobtainable. Maybe one day though, if fate would choose to allow it, you will be allowed to explore these feelings with the person you love.
A shift in musical styling from their second release D.W.D.Y. and their debut single Phase, In My Feelz is a fun Spring jam, offering an upbeat tempo and catchy melody, which reminds you of those moments, when you get the feeling of butterflies in your stomach, especially as you find yourself around the person you desire to be with but may not be able too. The lead singer Rachel had this to say about the upcoming release, “In My Feelz was a very fun song to make. It was developed from more than one story and feeling so the song can honestly have a little bit of a different meaning for everyone. Most of us have had those moments when we wish we could pursue something further with someone and take it beyond the dreams we have about them. A bit of a forbidden love story, I would say if anything, one of the big takeaways in the song as we were writing and composing it, is to pursue the things you desire and to not put things on hold. So many people get caught up in the things going on in life they miss out on the full potential of things life has to offer. The guy or girl you put on hold for your personal journey to discover the meaning of life, will also keep living, and by the time you realize that is the person you want to be with, it may be too late.”
EMPERATRIX is a band, based out of Nashville, TN. A blend of electronic, pop, indie and alternative genres, with a mix of progressive and psychedelic rock roots, EMPERATRIX takes the experiences of their personal life and turns these stories into music to share with others. More than just performers, this pair of songwriters, love to actually compose the music they perform. Whitney, lead guitar, is an incredible instrumentalist playing a unique style of guitar for many years, completely self-taught, she also plays bass, keyboard and drums as well as recently, adding to vocals as the backup. The lead singer of the group, Rachel, enjoys creative writing as a published poet, stage and film acting and previously owned her own online vintage fashion shop before the music began to pick up. Whitney is also a graphic designer, painter and photographer who loves to create conceptual art pieces for others as well as abstract beauties, such as the obscure castle background that became the main image for the band’s current single covers, which will all culminate for the full EP, expected to come out later this year.
