Heralded singer-songwriter and rocker Andrew Adkins has released his new album, “The Echoist”, the follow-up to his 2016 album, “To Become Immortal Then Die”.
The album displays a vast, diverse collection of sonic experimentation, surreal vignettes, soulful grittiness, and kaleidoscope-like production. Adkins started recording The Echoist in the Winter of 2019, finishing in quarantine, following the COVID-19 outbreak last Spring. All the songs were written, performed, recorded, and produced by Adkins at his studio in Nashville, TN. He brought in pedal steel guitarist Tim Rogers, Zach Gooch on horns, and Phill Thompson on strings and some additional piano parts.
Andrew Adkins is an acclaimed artist and songwriter. He has toured the world and shared the stage with an array of artists such as Cage the Elephant, Sturgill Simpson, Little Big Town, and Billy Joe Shaver. You have heard his songs on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. This Nashville songsmith, producer, and multi-instrumentalist seems set to leave his footprint in the music industry for years to come.
Throughout the album’s 8 songs we find gravel-voiced, foreboding tales, hallucinogenic bursts, and imagery, jubilant folk-stomps, ominous guitar-grit to warm poignant country ballads. These songs paint pictures within sonic landscapes, and musical experimentation. Adkins’ music and unique style of songwriting cast a cinematic appeal. Each composition and arrangement casts a fearless and bold shadow within these unique sound-explorations.
