Tell us about your music.
I like to consider my music “decaf rock n’ roll”. It has a coastal, grungy flare. I love the story aspect to song writing – words are important to me!
When did you start performing?
I started my music career with busking! My sister and I road-tripped around the country in our old station wagon, slept in parking lots and street-performed in the cities we stopped in! It was so much fun. That trip was encouraging to me when it came to pursuing my music career. The trip also just helped me grow as a person – getting to meet so many people and experience different places was inspiring.
What do you consider to be your hometown and how does that affect your music?
I grew up in Grass Lake, Michigan. I feel at home anywhere near the water. I grew up surfing Lake Michigan! I’ve lived in California, and now I live in Savannah, GA. I feel most free by the water; I think it allows me to feel more in general, which positively influences my music.
What performers have been your inspiration?
I have been inspired by any musician that can make people feel with their words and their music. I’ve always loved Johnny Cash for his raw authenticity. I love Mazzy Star for creating such a captivating space within the music. Matchbox Twenty annd Third Eye Blind are a couple of favorites. I have also spent time listening to artists like Simon and Garfunkel and Neil Young and appreciate their poetic nature to their writing.
What do you base your success on?
I base my success on how well I am able to love the world and the people around me.
What was your latest musical release?
My latest release was my album “summer 4 ever” This album was heavily influenced by the scenery and the vibe of the places I have visited in general. It’s filled with moments and thoughts surrounding the “in-betweens” of life; which can sometimes seem incredibly unimportant. However, I find myself drawn to them and inspired by. I think the “in-betweens” are where you’re able to be most yourself.
