Manchester-based artist ALF is proving why he is one of the most talked-about social media stars and soon-to-be artists with the release of his third single “Gunpoint,” out today via TikTok’s distribution platform, SoundOn. The song is available now on all streaming platforms.
An instantly infectious pop-rock track with a heartbreaking undertone – produced by Alex Quinn (Justin Bieber, Michael Aldag), co-produced by ALF himself and mixed and mastered by Graeme Lynch – “Gunpoint” is a track that will resonate with a large variety of listeners that want to get in their feels whilst having a scream in the car.
Of the single, ALF says, “Gunpoint is a song that describes the thrill and the adrenaline rush that comes with being in a complicated relationship and having to level with a person to get the outcome you desire, hence the title. I wrote it about not having high expectations to try and avoid personal heartbreak and knowing that the person you love is bound to let you down but the thrill keeps you coming back. Personally, I think letting a toxic person be aware of your weaknesses gives them strength, so holding your own and putting on a brave face is the best approach if you want to try and maintain that bond. However, I wrote it so the listener can apply it to any of their own relationships in life, whether that be a partner, a friend or even family.”
With his witty attitude and signature over-the-top fluffy bucket hats, ALF has already cultivated a huge online following off the back of his food and lifestyle TikTok videos (over 190k followers and 15 million likes on his @whosalf account). Having already conquered social media, working with some of the UK’s biggest brands (Admiral, McDonald’s, KAYAK, Taco Bell, Atlantic Records) now he is showing that he has a sound all of his own, and the capabilities to create big, captivating pop music with a raw edge to it. Having his first single only being released in November 2022, ALF is already proving he has something to show, with his first track being picked up by TikTok, gaining 2 million plays in the first two weeks of release and TikTok placing it #7 in their New Music UK playlist.
ALF was born in Cheshire in 2004, surrounded by a musically-obsessed family who were constantly singing and blaring music, it was no surprise to them when he started to explore musical likings of his own. His childhood spent with his Mum listening to Adele, Kate Nash and Lily Allen and him singing along quietly, quickly turned into him learning all of the songs from 2007’s Hairspray and performing them for the family after watching it with his Mum. Taking inspiration from his auntie Emma, who had written and recorded music of her own in Abbey Road Studios (The Beatles, Adele, Amy Winehouse) from a young age, he knew music was embedded in him and someday wanted to create a sound of his own. After writing and recording his own music for the past 4 years and with his large online fanbase eagerly waiting to hear more, now is ALF’s time to share his music with the world.
