Discover Enla Arboleda’s Sonic Journey with ‘When The Light Goes Out’

Colombian musician Enla Arboleda presents the music video for his single, “When The Light Goes Out,” a song about rekindling the flames of a love once thought lost. The track features jazz-inflected guitars, synthesizers, drum machines, and soft vocals that, together with hypnotic visuals filmed in various London locations, take the audience on an evocative journey through its poignant lyrics.

Enla Arboleda shares, “I wanted to create a simple video that captures a bit of my everyday life in London and those liminal spaces where I write my songs—places where paths cross and it feels like nothing will happen. These are locations where passers seem indifferent, yet they’re where musicians like me can find refuge to observe and create.”

“When The Light Goes Out” is a preview of his upcoming album, marking his first significant step toward reaching an international, English-speaking audience. This track, along with others in the album, blends Spanish and English, reflecting Enla’s diverse influences, including artists like Puma Blue, Jordan Rakei, and Caterina Barbieri. His music seamlessly integrates experimental sounds with vocal melodies that fluctuate between Alt-Pop, Jazz, and Indie.

“This is the first album I’ve produced entirely on my own, and I was eager to experiment across various genres in a way that felt handmade. That’s why I incorporated photos of the notebooks where I write my lyrics into the video. I believe my music videos pay homage to DIY culture and simplicity.”

Enla’s musical journey began at age 7 when he joined the music conservatory to study Colombian traditional music and guitar. Over the years, he expanded into rock, metal, and indie rock, releasing four albums with different projects. This music video is a deeply personal endeavor, blending his Colombian roots with his experiences in the UK. The forthcoming album is a sonic exploration of nostalgia and mystery, reflecting on life and love from the perspective of an immigrant.
