Recorded in unique locations, mastered at Abbey Road, and poised to redefine Rock music, Zoo Sioux’s new records display his impeccable talents
London, Middlesex, United Kingdom —Zoo Sioux, the innovative Desert Rock band from Pimlico, London, has set the music world abuzz with the simultaneous release of six albums in 2023.
This unprecedented move introduces a fresh, in-between genre of music that defies traditional classifications of rock and jazz, offering listeners a distinctive “Desert” sound. This sound, described as “Jimi Hendrix crashing into Tubular Bells,” combines sloppy drums, swamp bass, much syncopation, and acid chords, creating a whimsical and unique auditory experience.
The six albums, titled “Red Cat,” “Blue Cat,” “9-1,” “Airstream,” “Dum Chic,” and “Glass Insects,” were recorded in an eclectic mix of locations, including homes, rooftops, rivers, churches, and deserts, bringing a raw and authentic feel to the music.
These recordings were then mastered at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in North London, ensuring a high-quality finish that resonates with listeners. Songs such as “Tellin’ Me Lies,” “Alien,” “Voodoo-oo,” “Company of Angels,” and “Bam Bam” have already garnered significant attention and positive responses.
Zoo Sioux, founded by lead singer, guitarist, and composer David Christie, bassist Cake O Nomura, drummer Papillion Soo Soo, and acid guitarist Zak Orth, aims to alert the world to the existence of Desert Rock.
Their music is characterized by its rhythm, syncopation, and acid chords, creating a sound that is neither straight rock nor jazz but occupies a unique space in between. The band’s innovative approach and distinctive sound have prompted listeners to ask, “Do you play live?” with many describing their music as a captivating fusion of genres.
The band’s mission extends beyond music, as they seek to gain exposure through radio and online playlists, and are eager to solidify their place in the industry. They encourage curators, DJs, and VJs to feature their tracks, believing that once people hear their unique sound, they will be hooked!
