Tell us about your music.
Jordyn Rayne is a 24-year-old singer-songwriter based out of Edmonton, Alberta. Best known for her powerful singing, wide vocal range and emotional storytelling, Jordyn provides an energetic performance the minute she steps on stage and keeps the party going until she steps off! Jordyn just released her second full length album, “Lady,” on June 7th that will serve as Jordyn’s debut rock release. The whole album contains messages portraying societal issues such as the effects of social media on the body image of women, the view of femininity, effects of cyberbullying, and youths struggling to leave the nest in a changing economy. The album accompanies these messages with the sound of early 2000’s pop/punk tunes. This year Jordyn has been invited to perform at the world renown Taste of Edmonton Festival as well as the Magnificent River Rats Festival in Athabasca, Alberta. In 2022 Jordyn received her Diploma in Vocal Performance from MacEwan University. She has also received much coverage for her recent singles in blogs such as Pressparty, Melogroove, Vibe Vault and Rhythmic Pulse Magazine. She is also planning a short Alberta based tour in the summer of 2024 that will be called the “Here Comes The Rayne Tour.”
When did you start performing?
I have been singing ever since I was a little kid. My very first performance was me singing “All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth” with a children’s choir while I was actually missing my front teeth. Ever since I have been destined for the stage. Throughout my whole grad school experience I was in choirs, and musical theatre. I even went to Toronto to attend Randolph School of Performing Arts before I decided I didn’t want to continue in the musical theatre world. So I came back home and got into the music program at MacEwan University. fter graduating with a vocal performance diploma from Grant MacEwan University in 2022, I released my first full-length album “Time Capsule.” This was a compilation of songs about heartbreak, friendship, and life’s complications. It was a folk/pop album and my first attempt at songwriting/producing my own music. Following this release, I gathered up a four-piece band and we toured around Edmonton promoting these songs.Through performing with this band, I began to determine that the way I performed, and the genre of the songs from my first album, did not mesh. After riding the release of my first original album, I started to write more music that captured more of the sound I wanted to portray. Writing my second album “Lady,” to be released in spring 2024, I wanted to write more powerful songs that emulated who I am as a person now, and how I want to be seen as a performer. “Lady”: will serve as a perfect representation of my energy on stage and serves as my debut rock release.
What do you consider to be your hometown and how does that affect your music?
I grew up in Sherwood Park and was bullied relentlessly in school. I think the anger from my childhood is portrayed through my music.
What performers have been your inspiration?
When I wrote my upcoming album I took huge inspiration from Avril Lavigne for her pop/punk style and Miley Cyrus for her performance style. I grew up on female rock artists like Pat Benetar, Joan Jett and of course Stevie Nicks that have inspired who I am as a musician. I also take inspiration from modern artists like Olivia Rodrigo and MGK.
What do you base your success on?
I work ridiculously hard and have great ambition. Whenever I have free time I am working on my music by applying to radio stations, reaching out to magazines or blogs for PR opportunities and promoting my stuff. I believe in my music and know that if I work hard enough I can make huge strides in this industry.
What was your latest musical release?
“1-800-Cyber-Bully” is a hard-hitting rock single that directly addresses the pervasive issue of cyberbullying, calling out those who hide behind their screens to demean and harass others.
“1-800-Cyber-Bully” showcases my unflinching honesty and powerful voice, delivering a message that is both timely and necessary. As cyberbullying continues to plague the younger generations, this song serves as a rallying cry for resilience and self-empowerment. With its infectious rhythm and stirring lyrics, listeners will find themselves both moved and motivated to stand against online harassment. My inspiration for the song was my personal experiences with bullying and how cyberbullying is a growing pandemic that affects everyone, especially the youth of today. I’m not afraid to say how I feel, and this song is no exception. It’s about time we call out the cowards who think they can tear others down from behind their screens.
Do you have any news to share?
My latest full length album “Lady” was release on June 7th onto every music platform. “Lady” is an overall upbeat album with many society driven messages like the effects of social media on the body image of women, the view of femininity, effects of cyberbullying, and youths struggling to leave the nest in a changing economy. I am also getting ready to release a deluxe version of the album in the coming months that will contain stripped versions of the songs, instrumentals and live recordings.

My main goal is to bring more female presence to an otherwise male dominated music genre. Most female’s are apart of bands in the pop/punk genre. However, I am a solo female pop/punk artist. I am trying to give females a bigger voice through my music.
