Daryltron (Daryl Campbell) is no stranger to the music world. However, this time, it would appear he is taking on an even more ambitious approach to his release. Then again, each time he does a new release, he does this. In that sense, it’s nothing new either. I say this, because I’ve been following this relatively unknown artist for a couple of years now, and for good reason; he’s always pushing the envelope. Daryltron is set to release his next single, the seventies-funk-flavored ‘Her Man’ , on March 3rd (across various streaming and video platforms). It’s been several years since his last album release, but based on the sneak peek of the video, it will have been worth the wait. Daryltron has clearly honed his craft, even having dropped hints of ‘a new sound’ that he has worked on during his time distancing during the pandemic. In the typical fashion, Daryltron comes in fast and funky; a strong movement that, in a way, says ‘I have returned!’. Also, because it’s the overture for a story album. A love story, where he announces his love for his ‘special girl’ openly. This is, in essence, the first chapter, where he celebrates this love. The album goes on to deal with their breakup,
Daryltron vowing and succeeding at getting back at her (by becoming a successful rock star), and many other twists and turns. Originally, he’d planned on having skits in between each track, but opted to keep it simple and more music-based. It’s interesting to note that this was a concept he’d originated decades ago, yet many of the themes in it actually became a reality. It was prophetic, actually…
