Johan Livens to head Belgium office.
Jacksonville Beach, Fla. September 9, 2013 – – Nan Lewis has announced that Entertainment Works has opened an office in Belgium to provide management, marketing, public relations, media relations and publicity services to recording and performing artists. Entertainment Works/Europe will be headed by Johan Livens. The agency, specializing in Reggae music since 1989, will also coordinate client bookings in the United States, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Johan Livens has extensive experience as an international product development manager in the IT and Telecom industries. He has worked in Sweden, Finland, The Netherlands, Germany and Turkey, and has experience working with cross functional and multicultural teams from around the world (USA, Europe, and the Far East).
A fan of Reggae music and an avid photographer for over 30 years, Livens has vast experience photographing artists during live performances at concerts and festivals including the Uppsala Reggae Festival (now Furuvik Reggae Festival), Reggae Geel (the oldest European Reggae festival) and Dour Festival. His photographs have been published throughout Europe and on many international Reggae zines and websites. Livens will make his photography and videography skills available to Entertainment Works and its clients.
Livens is the authorized photographer for Asham Band (www.AshamBand.com). Asham Band has been praised as the “best roots Reggae backing band” by Marcia Griffiths, calling the group her “number one band.” Asham has recently performed with Reggae legends including The Heptones, Prince Alla, Sylford Walker, and Bitty McLean. A solid studio band with full horn section, Asham has recorded albums for Rohan Lee (Jamaica), Collieman (Belgium) and Brinsley Forde (formerly with Aswad, UK).
Lewis has over three decades experience in marketing and PR, beginning her career on Madison Avenue (N.Y., N.Y.); she was most recently the Marketing and PR Manager of the Mahaffey Theater, a 2,000 seat performance arts venue in St. Petersburg, Fla. Finding her niche in the entertainment industry, Lewis has worked with celebrities including Jerry Lewis, Roddy MacDowell, Travis Tritt, Jerry Seinfeld, Garrison Keillor, and numerous touring Broadway shows.
Lewis founded Entertainment Works in 1989 and represented recording and performing artists in Reggae, Funk, R&B/Soul, and African music. Clients included Friends of Distinction (“Grazin’ In The Grass,” “Going In Circles” – both Gold Records), Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Bernie Worrell (Talking Heads, founding member of Parliament Funkadelic), Errol Blackwood (founder of and formerly the lead vocalist/bass player of Canadian Reggae band Messenjah), Clinton Fearon (formerly with The Gladiators), Peter Broggs, Ras Midas, Prince Alla, Nasio Fontaine, Winston Grennan, Jerri Jheto and others, and Lewis has worked with Toots & The Maytals, The Skatalites, Israel Vibrations, King Bravo, Lord Tanamo, Vernon Maytone, and many other prominent Reggae artists and bands. Lewis was the PR Director of Reggae Ambassadors Worldwide (“RAW”), an international non profit organization promoting Reggae music and its makers, from 1996 to 2002.
Entertainment Works currently represents Jamaican recording and performing artist Ras Midas (active since 1974); the agency will be expanding artist representation. Artists are invited to contact Entertainment Works for information.
