American Heritage Blues Hall of Fame Member Leon J’s Juke’n Time CD release
Leon J’s newest project, Juke’n Time with his band JukeJoint is exactly what the name would imply… Simple, Raw, Fun, JukeJoint Music!
Recorded in Phoenix Arizona at Gecko Studios with Mr. Jeff Farias (Jeff also plays the Stand up Bass on this release) A one shot live recording done on analog tape you really get the feel that you are right there in the Juke with the guys while they are jammin!
Dyin Day has a real soulful hurting blues feeling with featuring Leon J’s Vocal Range, while Sweet Stew Blues takes you to the other side of the spectrum with a happy acoustic bluesy groove.
Overall this release is a strong outing for Leon’s JukeJoint Project. His 2004 release of Lay my Burden Down while with UnderCover Acoustic was a simple duo of percussion guitar and vocals, while this new project offers Hall of Famer Scotty Spenner with some incredible guitar flavorings, picked on his national resophonic and martin guitars, Jeff Farias plays his metal stand up bass, and Keith Rogers adds some amazing traditional sounds on the Harmonica, (a true delta saxaphone) and Leon J plays his Deluxe National resonator, His Taylor 814, and then comes back into the studio to add the Washboard, Djembe.
He wanted to produce a pure interpretation of what it might have been like in the 20’s and 30’s in the Delta with traditional instrumentation and song stylings and the guys have done it at the highest level.
Acoustic Cellars Records debut CD release Leon J & JukeJoint’s Juke’n Time, is something to cherish in the Roots, Delta, and Traditional Acoustic music realm and we are anxiously looking forward to more from this unique boutique label, and from Leon J!
