Talent Is An Understatement With Up N Coming NYC Artist “Chelliehope”

Get to know Chelliehope with us and learn more of her musical journey.

What is your artist name or what name do you go by?
My artist name is Chelliehope, but I go by Michellie &/or Chellie.

What city do you represent?
I represent NYC!

What got you started making music, or your craft?
I started rapping because it helped me express my emotions in a different, versatile way, where people can relate to how I feel. Which is also why I came up with my clothing line Hopeandlyrics. I started dancing because it helped me with my anxiety since I was at least 10 years old.

Any goals you want to achieve this year?
I’d like to become a background dancer for a big artist by the end of the year. I’d like to become more known in the dancing industry by the end of the year as well.

Anyone you would like to work with?
I’d like to work with Chris Brown, Dani Leigh or even new upcoming artists like Danilo.
Other than artists, I’d like to work with choreographers like Ysabellecaps, Natbat, Dario Boatner, & KAOS itself which is a dance company originated in California I believe.

Any up and coming artist/entrepreneurs you look up to or would like to shout out?
Upcoming artists I look up to may have to be Kaylee Ameri, Flawless Real talk, Rod wave and many more artists that speak from the soul.

What is the most recent project you’re working on?
I have been working on my craft lately. I’ve been trying to improve on becoming a stronger dancer and inspiring others to do what they love to do. The most recent project I’ve done was with Victoria Dennis music. She is an upcoming artist and I got to choreograph with a group of other girls and challenge myself to do a different style of dance.

What struggles do you go through as an up and coming artist/entrepreneur?
I personally struggle with my anxiety. Although I’m very confident with my work/craft, it can definitely come in between many things like performing, making choreo for others, etc. Thankfully I know how to control my anxiety after a while. You just have to focus and not think about your surroundings and how others may think of you. You have to keep going !

How do you overcome these struggles?
I have overcome these struggles by facing my fears of standing out. Surprisingly, I dislike too much attention, but I’ve learned that in order to live this lifestyle you have to get out of your comfort zone. It may be hard at first, but once you start to do it , you become more confident and less afraid of what people might think.
