Tell us about your music.
“Raines” is a synthwave / electronica music project based in Florida, USA. This music is created with a mix of lo-fi textures, heavy sidechain, and cool synth sound design. “Raines” music takes inspiration from wave music and usually has a creative bounce along with relaxing melodies and textures. Some collaborations may sway towards other genres like Lo-Fi or EDM, depending on who Raines collaborates with.
When did you start performing?
Raines began performing in 2020, but got his first DJ board in 2022. Raines enjoys many genres of music and may perform with other acts in the future with more EDM dominant tracks.
What do you consider to be your hometown and how does that affect your music?
Even though I live in Punta Gorda, Florida. I consider Delray Beach to be my hometown. I went to High School in Boca Raton, but the Beach of Delray has so many old memories I will never forget.
What performers have been your inspiration?
I really love EDM so I think Rezz is a great inspiration to me because her music pulls you in and is so creative and lovely. Furthermore, I think XXXTentacion: he is buried less than a mile away from my high-school. X also showed how to combine chaos with love, the range of emotion you can feel when you really listen to X inspired me to be an artist. Even though he was a controversial artist I think he wanted to become the best version of himself and it is a shame he died so young.
What do you base your success on?
When covid hit back in 2020 I was falling out of a relationship, in fact my first relationship. I had to leave my college town because of COVID, so when I was doing school online during the summer I would spend at least 10-15 hours each day for a few months just learning how to make music on my gaming laptop. I wanted to make something great to share with other people. Along with all the hard work I put in I really wanted to do things according to the industry, learning how to mix things together, how to get the track to sound the way I wanted it, I really focused on perfecting every part I could imagine. So Hard Work and Love are what I would base my success on.
What was your latest musical release?
The newest musical release: “11:17”, is a track created with artist “thunlt” combining lo-fi ambient music with more upbeat and stereo electronica / wave music. 11 and 17 as numbers mean something to Raines. 11 is considered a master number because it is one followed by one, and means “truth, new opportunities, second chances and love” and 17 is considered the star number that is associated with “change and progress”. So with “11:17” it combines these two powerful numbers just like how “Raines” combines his Electro / Wave music with “thunlt” Lo-Fi / ambient music.
