Break free from the ordinary and listen to “Cry (A Different Day)” now

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6

“Cry (A Different Day)” is an exhilarating rock anthem that combines hard-hitting guitars with a unique hip-hop beat, offering a sound that is refreshing and distinct from today’s mainstream music. This track by Kenny Fame powerfully captures the emotional turmoil following a fleeting romantic connection, revealing the intricate and often overlooked complexities of such relationships. The song’s evocative hook, “dingy white tiles on subway walls covered up in graffiti,” originated from the opening line of a previously published poem of my own. This poem delved into the theme of losing oneself during a subway ride, serving as a compelling metaphor for the disorientation one may experience in the face of confusing circumstances, overshadowing the evident truths that surround us.

According to Kenny initially, the composition was titled “Cry,” directly referencing the opening line. However, during the recording process, my engineer proposed the addition of a hook, expressing concerns regarding the lyrics’ vagueness and the insufficient payoff they provided. This suggestion prompted him to experiment with various chord progressions, inspiring me to compose new lyrics rapidly. The resulting lines of the middle-eight, “all I see is the same old story just a completely different day,” effectively established a narrative build-up leading to a meaningful conclusion. Consequently, I renamed the piece “A Different Day” while retaining “Cry” as a subtitle for nostalgia.
