Album Review: “Rock & Roll Fantasy” by The Fats

Album "Rock & Roll Fantasy” by The Fats

Canadian Rock band The Fats finally released their debut album in July titled “Rock & Roll Fantasy”. This 30-minute production is a perfect listen for anyone who is a fan of rock music, as well as anyone looking to discover new breakout artists.

“Rock & Roll Fantasy” contains nine songs: “Hellhound,” “Best of You,” “Long Tall Sally,” “Dirty Shirley,” “Get so High,” “On the Run,” covers “Big Boss Man” and “Walkin’ the Dog,” and the title track, “Rock N’ Roll Fantasy.” Each song, while sounding different from one another, sounds like it belongs on this album, making “Rock & Roll Fantasy” a cohesive effort worthy of being listened to from start to finish. Descriptive lyrics help tell a story in each song, allowing listeners to better connect with The Fats through their music.

The Fats is comprised of three talented musicians: James Chiha provides vocals and guitars, Alex Kotsornithis provides guitars, and Brandon Benwell provides drums. The guitars and drums are prominent throughout this album and complement Chiha’s voice nicely. In fact, the soaring instrumentals are what allows listeners to recognize The Fats for the impressive rock band that they are, and is a major reason why “Rock & Roll Fantasy” will be enjoyed by a wide audience.
