Nigerian-born, UK-based Afrobeat star Great Adamz is set to release his highly-anticipated debut album ‘Blessed Boy,’ out November 22nd via Radikal Records. Adamz stakes his claim in the Afrobeats landscape with this impressive debut, presenting a fresh, laid-back sound that sets him apart. Across a vibrant 14-track collection, he blends ethereal vocals, infectious rhythms, and insightful lyrics, creating a captivating, easy-listening experience throughout.
Balancing deep reflections with danceable beats, ‘Blessed Boy’ is not just an album, but a celebration of life’s journey, embracing the ongoing conflict of blessings and daily challenges. Following the release of fan favourites like ‘Kilon So,’ ‘Kuron Be’ and ‘Talk To Me’, Adamz will unveil the album’s lead single ‘Gimme Whyne.’ This vibrant take on Afro-Dancehall is a certified album highlight, promising to get listeners moving to its immersive rhythms, and playful, anthemic feel.
According to Great Adamz, ‘Blessed Boy’ doesn’t just mark his musical arrival, but also captures the personal growth he has experienced along the way. Encapsulating the heart of the album, Adamz shared, “Blessed Boy is my realization that musically, I’ve become everything I dreamed of. It’s not the absence of problems; it’s feeling grateful for what I have been given so far. The truth of the matter is: everything that you have right now, once you prayed for, you once wanted very, very badly. But after a while ,we stop feeling blessed because we start to want more, and that’s human nature. This is your reminder that God already answered most of your prayers. This is your reminder to feel grateful, and this is your reminder to feel blessed.”
Previous single ‘Love Your Neighbour’ evokes a powerful message of love and community, blending addictive beats with the soulful grooves of Amapiano. The track serves as a vibrant anthem for unity, promoting the values of kindness, positivity and collective upliftment. In a world increasingly divided, the song is a timely reminder of the power of love and connection.“The only time we truly win is when we win together, sharing happiness and positivity,” says Great Adamz. “So, show love to everyone.”
‘Talk To Me,’ released earlier this year, assembled high anticipation for what ‘Blessed Boy’ has to offer. In this unforgettable number, Adamz blends a multitude of genres to craft a magnetic atmosphere, intertwining lush, Latin guitar and captivating African melodies. The track explores the allure of youthful romance, capturing the exhilaration of teenage love with its mesmerising soundscape and emotionally charged vocal delivery.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind ‘Talk To Me,’ Adamz reminisces, “When I wrote Talk to Me’ it was like I was 18 years old again and there was this beautiful woman in front of me but I didn’t have the courage to speak to her, but now that i’m older, if I was ever going to be 18 again everything that I would say to her is what I put into the lyrics of “Talk to Me”. It’s what a young Great Adamz would have said to his biggest crush if he was 18 again.”
