Bella Moulden is releasing “Season of the Witch,” this summer August 8, 2023.
The polished and revamped version of her preceded demo in 2021, will release worldwide, available for streaming on Spotify, Apple, Youtube, and more.
The song sends you on a witch’s journey as she encounters someone she would much rather turn into a frog than entertain. A classic for women’s empowerment and the Halloween season. Inspired by the original 90s classic, Hocus Pocus.
Reviving the sounds of the 80s and late 70s in this song, this Buffalo Native summoned the ghost of Rick James in her bedroom studio. Though, she claims was easy as she lived in the neighborhood he once resided in.
“This song at first seems like some sort of story about a witchy-heartless woman ‘dangerous to men,’ but you’ll soon realize it’s much deeper. A woman who is hurt and has been taken advantage of. Kinda like Medusa. She was seen as evil, but in reality, she was a victim of a patriarchal society. Women have always been portrayed in stories as evil, and cold to men–but that is from the perspective of men, is it not? The moral of the story, is not everything is what it seems…and I think that ties into the witchy theme, don’t ya think? This isn’t a woman written by a man, this is a woman written by a woman. As a porcupine has quills, the protagonist has potions.”
